Karachi: It has been recommended to give Rs 14 lakh compensation and plots to the victims of Gujjar, Orangi and Mehmoodabad drains in Shahr Quaid.
The Pakistan Engineering Council has prepared an estimate report for compensation to the victims, which has been sent to the Sindh government. In the report, the Pakistan Engineering Council has recommended compensation of Rs 14 lakh 37 thousand per person to the victims.
In the recommendation made in the report, it is further said that Sindh government will give 80 yards plot in MDA to 6 thousand 932 victims.
It should be noted that the victims had demanded Rs 25 lakh per person as compensation, while the Sindh government had agreed to pay Rs 10 lakh per person to the victims. The Sindh government had contacted the Pakistan Engineering Council for the estimate.
Engineer Najeeb Haroon, chairman of Pakistan Engineering Council, said that a 2-room quarter can be made from 1.4 lakh 37 thousand. A room on the top floor of the quarter can also be built later. Victims are recommended to pay compensation in 3 installments. 5, 5 lakhs and 4.5 lakhs should be paid to the victims in installments.
