Quetta: The Balochistan government has made the teaching of Quran compulsory in schools for Muslim students.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rand said that the provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti was held on May 21 and 22, in which the cabinet members approved various projects.

According to the spokesperson of the provincial government, the cabinet made the teaching of the Quran compulsory for Muslim students, after which the teaching of the Holy Quran will also be given in schools along with other subjects.

Apart from this, the cabinet approved projects related to administrative affairs and public interest, while the Chief Minister has directed to prepare comprehensive recommendations for improvement in the education and health sectors.

The Chief Minister made the promotions of officers and employees in both sectors subject to performance, besides the cabinet also approved the amendment bill to prevent early marriage and end domestic violence.
