Islamabad: President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed their grief over the death of the Iranian president in a helicopter accident, while the national flag has also been lowered to the ground over the tragic incident.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of Iranian President Syed Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister and others in a helicopter crash and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved. He paid tribute to the services of former President Ibrahim Raisi for the Muslim Ummah.
He said in his statement that President Ibrahim Raisi was a great supporter of the unity of the Muslim Ummah. The world of Islam has lost a great leader. The Iranian President deeply felt the pain of Muslims worldwide, including the Palestinian and Kashmiri people. Today, Pakistan mourns the loss of a great friend.
Asif Zardari added that last month we had the honor of hosting him in Pakistan, during our conversation, I found him committed to strengthening bilateral relations. President Raisi always gave a special place to Pakistan and its people. His death is a great loss not only for Iran but for the entire Muslim Ummah.
President Zardari said that President Raisi will be remembered in Iran, Pakistan and the Islamic world for his efforts to increase relations with regional and Islamic countries. May Allah grant peace to his soul, patience and perseverance to his family and the people of Iran in this hour of irreparable loss.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also expressed regret over the death of the Iranian president in the accident. He said in his statement on X (formerly Twitter) that the flag will be hoisted in honor of those who died.
Shahbaz Sharif said that President Raisi was a very good friend of Pakistan, while expressing solidarity with the brotherly country Iran in this hour of sorrow, mourning day for the death of Iranian President and Foreign Minister will be observed across the country today.
He said that Pakistan got a historic opportunity to host Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Abdullahian about a month before their martyrdom.
