In the meeting held in the federal capital, the situation of bilateral cooperation between the two leaders and the preparations for the upcoming 7th high-level strategic coordination meeting between Pakistan and Turkey were reviewed.
Later, while addressing a joint news conference, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan and Turkey have long-standing relations, they are two countries but one nation. There are strategic and bilateral relations between the two countries. Today we had delegation-level talks, in which trade, defense and connectivity and economic cooperation were discussed. Similarly, public-to-public relations are also an important part of communication.
He said that they want to increase the trade volume between the two countries to 5 billion dollars and soon there will be negotiations on the preparation of a formal economic framework for trade relations. We will further strengthen cooperation to protect each other’s borders and fight terrorism.
Ishaq Dar said that the stance of Pakistan and Turkey is the same against Islamophobia and joint efforts will continue. Islamophobia was also discussed in detail during the OIC meeting, where the ambassador of Turkey has been appointed as the focal person on Islamophobia.
The Foreign Minister said that regional and global development, especially the situation in Gaza, was also discussed. Both countries have the same position on the Israeli aggression and killings in Gaza. We strongly condemn the Israeli aggression in Gaza and call for a ceasefire.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan while addressing the news conference said that we have made it clear that we support Pakistan on global and regional issues. Being a long border, activities in Afghanistan have a direct impact on Pakistan. We wish for permanent peace and stability for our Afghan brothers and sisters.
He said that we have also discussed the plight of the Palestinian brothers and sisters. We demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. In its desire for complete victory, Israel is putting the peace of the entire region at stake. We are making efforts to establish peace together with the United Nations, OIC. The international community should learn from the past and try to ensure a two-state solution. Turkey and Pakistan will continue to raise their voice for Islam.
