Islamabad: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah has ordered an investigation against the Federal Board of Revenue’s Corporate Tax Office Islamabad for violating the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a case related to tax refund.
Federal Tax Ombudsman to Secretary Revenue Division/Chairman FBR and Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, CTO, Islamabad on the complaint filed by the complainant regarding the misbehavior of employees of CTO Islamabad with taxpayers. 10 notices have been issued asking for submission of comments on the allegations leveled by the complainant by 27 May 2024.
In this regard, when contacted, Waheed Shahzad Butt, the tax lawyer who filed the petition on behalf of the taxpayer, said that the FTO will investigate the allegations of malpractice that the FBR tax employees have made refunds. Why has the unequivocal orders issued by the High Court been violated?
