Karachi: A Grade 17 government officer claiming BA in Mathematics could not spell math in court.
The Sindh High Court summoned the registrar of the cooperative society while issuing a notice on the petition filed against canceling the allotment of lease plots in the Qureshi Cooperative Society. During the hearing, the court expressed its anger on Registrar Qureshi Cooperative Society Muharram Ali Sand for not giving proper answers to the court questions.
Moharram Ali Sand could not satisfactorily answer the questions asked about his educational qualifications. During the hearing, Justice Salahuddin Paiwar inquired as to which department he is an employee of. Muharram Ali Sand said that he is a grade 17 officer in the local government.
Justice Salahuddin Pahoor asked what is your educational qualification? Muharram Ali Sand replied that I have done BA in Math (Mathematics), asked Justice Salahuddin that BA in Math is done from which university? Muharram Ali Sand replied that I have done private BA from Shah Latif University.
The Supreme Court said that what is the spelling of Math? But local government grade 17 officer Muharram Ali Sand failed to spell the math, which was laughed at by the lawyers and cynics sitting in the court.
In the petition filed, it has been contended that the Registrar of Cooperative Societies is an officer of grade 18 but posted in 19. The court inquired how an officer of grade 18 can be posted in grade 19? It was the position of the petitioner that the Registrar Qureshi Cooperative Society has canceled the lease of the leased plot. The court adjourned the hearing of the application till May 22.
