Huqqah is and has been quite popular in different cultures of the world and is considered a safe alternative to smoking, but this is far from the truth.
The truth is that there are many cancer-causing ingredients in huqa, which are known as carcinogens. The severity of the risk also depends on how much and how deeply a person inhaled the smoke.
According to a study, a large number of college students smoke hookah or shisha. Other research shows that the rate of smoking in the general population is about 30 percent, while most students are generally unaware of the potential risk associated with it.
If we talk about older people, this rate goes up to 60%. Among them, there are majority of people who do not consider Haqq as dangerous as cigarettes, while some people do not see it as an addiction or smoking at all.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Infection (CDC), hakka is as toxic as smoking. A review of studies found that it contains 27 known and suspected carcinogens. Many of these carcinogens are higher in cigarettes than in cigarettes, including carbon monoxide, which causes heart disease.
Smokers are at risk of the same cancers as smokers, such as:
- Lung cancer
- Head and neck cancer
- Esophageal cancer
- Oral cancer
- Stomach Cancer: Recent studies have revealed a link between smoking, stomach cancer and ulcers
- Bladder cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Leukemia: Hake also contains benzene, which is a carcinogen and has been linked to acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and other blood-related cancers.
- Researchers examined 105 smokers. They found that they had 4.2 times higher benzene levels than non-smokers.
Other toxins found in cigarette and hookah smoke include arsenic, cobalt, chromium and lead.
