Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to increase the number of buses under the People’s Bus Service in the new financial year to make the transport system more effective across the province.
A high-level meeting of the Transport Department was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Senior Minister and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, in which Secretary Transport Asad Zaman, MDSMTA Kamal Dayo and others participated.
In the meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari is to connect the tehsils with the district headquarters, for which they are considering bringing a scheme under the People’s Bus Service.
He said that under the instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, people’s bus service will be started from Sukkur to Larkana and Sukkur to Khairpur.
In the meeting, senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was given a detailed briefing on the reconstruction of various BRTs, signals, reconstruction of bus terminals, construction of Utron for People’s Bus Service.
On this occasion, it was also decided to construct a parking plaza to reduce the traffic pressure in central areas of Hyderabad and the senior minister was also briefed regarding the completion of the construction work of 8 bus terminals.
Officials told Sharjeel Inam Memon that the work of 8 bus terminals has been completed and all the said terminals will be functional by June.
