Lahore: The accused killed his maternal uncle for forbidding the consumption of alcohol in the mehndi ceremony in connection with the marriage.
According to the police, the ritual mehndi ceremony was going on in the Umar Farooq Road area of the provincial capital. During this time, Arif, the uncle of the bridegroom Faisal, was drinking alcohol, on which the bride’s sister Subia, 30, forbade Arif from drinking alcohol.
Accused Arif got enraged when Subiya forbade him to drink alcohol and fired at Subiya and escaped. The deceased was hit by 3 bullets, which was immediately taken to Munshi Hospital for medical assistance, but Subiya could not survive due to her injuries.
According to initial reports, the deceased was married and left after a few days. The police have deposited the body in the mortuary and started searching for the killer and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
