London: A recent study in the UK found that 40% of cancer cases are related to obesity.
According to media reports, a team of researchers in the United Kingdom found that 40 percent of all cancer cases are related to obesity. A team of researchers led by Sweden’s Lund University monitored 4.1 million participants for nearly 40 years and identified 332,500 cancers, of which 40 percent of patients were found to be obese.
The team released a statement in which it said the findings of the study reflect important public health implications. He said that the proportion of cancer in the population can be reduced by keeping people’s weight normal.
The study also found that people are six times more likely to be obese in middle age if their parents were obese at the same age.
Britain’s Health Secretary Victoria Atkins said while talking to the media that we can help and advise people on how to stay healthy, but we have to do it in a way that is not intrusive. It is better for us to provide information to people and by doing so we can help them lead a healthier life.
