Lahore: In the case of the marriage of minor girls, the court ordered action against the marriage registrar.
According to Express News, Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Hanu of Lahore High Court issued a decision on the petition of lady Azmat Bibi, in which the court said that the High Court has issued clear orders regarding stopping the marriage of young children, at the time of marriage. The registrar, Nikah Khawan and witnesses must have documents regarding the bride’s age.
The court said that marriages of young children are being conducted despite the court order, apparently marriage registrars and marriage celebrants are not following the court’s instructions, the relevant institutions should take strict action against such nikah registrars and nikah celebrants.
It should be noted that Azmat Bibi had filed an application for the recovery of her fourteen-year-old daughter.
