Karachi: Tributes have been paid to Palestinian journalists who were martyred as a result of Israeli brutality in Gaza on International Press Freedom Day in Karachi.
According to the details, a protest was organized outside the Karachi Press Club by the Joint Action Committee on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day in which representatives of journalistic organizations and media workers participated.
In the protest, the protestors put handkerchiefs (kafiya) with the cultural symbols of Palestine around their necks and expressed sympathy with the families by paying homage to the martyred journalists who were brutalized by the Israeli army.
Apart from this, the speakers also demanded that the killers of journalist John Muhammad and the president of Khuzdar Press Club, who were martyred today, should be immediately arrested and punished severely.
Apart from this, the protestors strongly condemned the harassment of journalists, unnecessary cases and stopping them from working, while demanding forced dismissals, timely payment of dues and salaries in media institutions.
Addressing the protestors, the official of the journalistic organization and senior journalist AH Khanzada said that today there is an attempt to shake the world’s conscience, they ask the developed countries why they are silent on the ongoing brutality in Gaza.
He said that Israel is bombing hospitals, old women and children, if anyone speaks against Israel, action is taken against him. There is no doubt from the people of America, France, Australia and Canada because the Western nations are raising their voices in favor of Palestine.
He said that action is being taken against those who support Palestine in the western world. Suspicion is with the Muslim rulers, what will Shahbaz Sharif and the ministers do today? The United Nations has been silent on the issue of Palestine.
Apart from this, journalistic organizations also held demonstrations outside the press clubs established in all small and big cities of the country and demanded to ensure freedom of press in Pakistan.
