According to Indian media, the G20 meeting held in Lucknow, the capital of UP, has been exhibited in recent days, in which this new technology created in collaboration with WhatsApp and artificial intelligence has been introduced. Which was greatly appreciated by the participants and has been called as an important step in the world of medicine.
On this occasion, Priya Ranjan Ghosh, the co-founder of this start-up, said that this new technology of his can tell in just a few moments by looking at the picture of any person’s eyes, whether he has cataract disease or not, after which he It will be easy to get treatment for.
Ghosh said that his technology is very useful especially for the residents of rural areas where there are no treatment facilities and the disease of people suffering from eye diseases increases due to lack of timely doctor’s advice and treatment.
Now any health worker can easily detect the eye diseases of these patients through WhatsApp. By taking a picture of the patient’s eye through this feature, it will be known whether he has a cataract or not. As a result, the patient can go to the doctor for advice or treatment.
Ranjan also said that this application was created in 2021 and now it is working in Vidhya and so far 1100 people have been screened with it.
Navedita Tiwari, director of Lagi (AI), said that the application has been integrated with WhatsApp, as almost everyone now has WhatsApp. WhatsApp has built a number called contact in this contact we have integrated our technology called Artificial Intelligence Cataract Screening Solution. By adding it to WhatsApp we send contacts to our users.
Basic information is requested from the patient as soon as this contact is received. Name, gender and other necessary information is taken by the WhatsApp bot, after which the eye image is taken. The patient sends their picture to the bot. As soon as the image is received, the bot immediately tells whether the patient has cataract or not, after which the person can get medicine or surgery from any concerned doctor.
This whole process is based on automatic and artificial intelligence technology. We tested it on around 100 patients and found 91% accurate results. After which 50 people were trained in Vidisha of Madhya Pradesh. Currently it is working as a pilot project in Madhya Pradesh and soon it will be used in UP as well.
Senior Eye Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kumar Vishnoi termed it as a useful application and said that this facility is proving to be particularly good for remote areas. Lack of medical facilities.
