Karachi: The search committee established for the selection of vice chancellors in government universities of Sindh declared all the shortlisted candidates unfit for the post of vice chancellor in Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law (Zabul).
According to the details, while rejecting the names of all the candidates appearing for the interviews for the post of Vice-Chancellor, it has been decided to advertise once again for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor in the university, which has been approved by the Chief Minister, the controlling authority of the universities of the province. It will be taken from Sindh.
After this decision made on the basis of unsuitable candidates, the possibility of immediate appointment of a permanent vice-chancellor in Zabul has ended and this university, which has been working without a permanent vice-chancellor for almost a year, is now without a permanent head for some more time. It will work.
It should be noted that the additional charge of the vice chancellor in Zabul is with the vice chancellor of Dao Medical University. The search committee meeting for the selection of a new vice chancellor in Zabul was held on Tuesday afternoon at the office of Sindh HEC, convener and chairman of the search committee. Sindh Higher Education Commission was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Tariq Rafi.
Interviews of 9 shortlisted candidates were conducted in the meeting. Among the candidates, former Provincial Chancellor of Sindh University Prof. Nabi Bakhsh, Additional Secretary Mudassaruddin appointed in the Governor House and former Dean of Zabul Dr. Rukhsar Ahmed were among other candidates.
A senior person from the legal field told “Express” that during the interviews conducted on Tuesday, some candidates could not even answer the most basic questions and many candidates did not even know who the Principal Account Officer is. And what assignments could he have while the candidates did not know which forum approves the budget of public universities.
It is being told that only one candidate could prove his competence in the interview to some extent, but according to the Act of the Search Committee, the committee is bound to send a panel consisting of three names to the Chief Minister of Sindh and in the interview held on Tuesday, the committee None of the 9 candidates could identify three persons as suitable candidates, so it was decided that the Department of Universities and Boards will inform the Chief Minister of Sindh through a summary of this situation and take approval of the new advertisement.
Justice (retd) Zia Parvez and Justice (rt) Nadeem Azhar participated as co-opted members in the interviews held on Tuesday.
