Order issued to make people happy, Islamabad High Court
The Islamabad High Court has suspended the notification of reduction in non-bread prices in the federal capital.
Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the request of the president of Non-Bi Welfare Association. The court suspended the district administration’s notification of reduction in non-bread prices on May 6 till the next hearing.
A representative of the district administration said that by amending the law, DCOs have been empowered to fix the price.
Barrister Umar Ejazgilani, the lawyer of Nanbai, argued that flour is expensive here and the rent is also high, the power of the Controller General is not under Section III.
Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri said that did they ask the tandoor people how much the flour is coming or did they just issue the order to please the people?
The court, while suspending the notification till the next hearing, sought a detailed response from the parties and adjourned the hearing till May 6.
