Rawalpindi: Even before the arrival of Ramadan, there was a wave of inflation in the markets. Due to the increase in the prices of food and drink, the citizens suffered severe mental agony.

In Rawalpindi, the twin city of the federal capital, dal mash, which was sold at Rs 2500 two months ago, is being sold at Rs 400 per kg in the wholesale market, while the price of moong dal has increased from Rs 200 to Rs 250. Dal gram was increased from Rs 180 to Rs 230 while white gram also took off, resulting in a price hike of Rs 250 to Rs 400 per kg.

According to wholesale market dealers, red beans have increased from Rs 300 to Rs 400 per kg. Apart from this, sugar is also being sold at Rs 95 per kg instead of Rs 70 per kg, while good ghee is being sold at Rs 650 per kg from Rs 520 per kg.

In Rawalpindi, before Ramadan, the prices of beverages also increased by 20 to 30 percent. Apart from this, Iranian dates have increased from Rs 350 to Rs 650 and Pakistani dates have increased from Rs 300 to Rs 750 per kg.

The price of chicken meat in the city also increased sharply, after which chicken reached Rs 750 per kg while the price of live chicken crossed Rs 450 in the general market.
