Heart patients revealed to consume twice as much harmful substances

A new study has found that people with heart disease consume more than twice the recommended daily amount of sodium, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

The study, conducted on people with heart disease, was presented at the American College of Cardiology’s annual scientific session earlier this month.

Lead author of the study, Elsie Kodjo, said the importance of this study emerged because of the focus on a group of people with cardiovascular disease. These are the individuals who are encouraged to follow the sodium guidelines.

But the study found that about 90 percent of people in this group consumed more sodium than usual.

Elsie Codjo said there are many reasons why it is difficult to reduce sodium consumption, including people whose health is worsened by the factor.

He said that while it is important for individuals to take steps to control sodium consumption, it is imperative for policymakers to introduce measures to reduce the consumption of pre-packaged foods (packages or containers). can reduce the amount of sodium in foods sold by

Consuming too much sodium can cause high blood pressure, which can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. To avoid this risk, the American Heart Association (AHA) has set a daily sodium intake limit of 1500 mg.

However, the study revealed that 89 percent of study participants consumed twice the recommended amount, about 3,000 milligrams of sodium per day.
