Jinnah Hospital, the largest government hospital in Karachi, is facing severe lack of facilities.
There is a severe shortage of life-saving medicines in Jinnah Hospital due to which the patients undergoing treatment in the hospital are forced to bring medicines from outside.
Post Graduate Resident Dr. Kafeel Ahmad while talking to Geo News said that there is a shortage of life-saving medicines in Jinnah Hospital for several months, the oxygen ports have been broken in emergency, and there is no ECG machine.
He said that there is a severe shortage of doctors including nursing staff in the emergency, there is not a single nursing staff for every 100 patients in the emergency ward of the hospital, while a large number of patients come to the emergency on a daily basis.
On the other hand, the Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital Prof. Dr. Shahid Rasool claims that the condition of Jinnah Hospital’s emergency is slightly better.
He says that there are difficulties in the provision and maintenance of many facilities due to low budget, medical facilities were provided to 1300 patients in 5 days of Eid, the pressure of patients in the hospital is high.
Professor Dr. Shahid Rasool has further stated that the budget of the hospital is 12 to 13 billion rupees, this budget is according to the earlier 1100-bed hospital, while now the hospital has 2200 beds.
He also said that he has requested the Sindh government to increase the budget of the hospital, to which the Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah has assured that the budget of the hospital will be increased this year.
