Pakhtunkhwa;  Flood situation in rivers, alert issued to local people and administration

Peshawar: An alert has been issued to the local people and the administration in view of the flood situation in the rivers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the danger of increasing due to more rains.

The meteorological department says that rain will continue in the province until April 20. In the last few hours, 12 mm of rain has been recorded in Peshawar.

Meanwhile, according to PDMA, the provincial body that deals with natural disasters, most of the rivers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are in medium level of flood and more rain has increased the risk of flooding. An alert has been issued to the local people and the administration in this regard. The PDMA has asked in the letter that the residents of the nearby rivers should be shifted to a safe place.

Meanwhile, PDMA has issued a report on the loss of life and property in the province due to heavy rains, according to which 36 people have died and 46 have been injured so far as a result of the accidents. The children are 8 males and 8 females while the injured include 9 females, 33 males and 11 children.

A total of 2391 houses were damaged due to the collapse of walls and roofs in different districts, in which 388 houses were completely damaged while 2003 houses were partially damaged. Due to heavy rains, life and financial accidents occurred in various districts of Khyber, Dir Upper and Lower, Chitral Upper, Swat, Bajaur, Shangla, Mansehra, Mohmand, Malakand, Kirk, Tank, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Bunir, Hangu, It took place in Bitgram, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Kohat, DI Khan and Kazai.
