Peshawar: 15 doctors of the Gynecology Department were suspended over the issue of purchasing medicines from outside for the patients admitted on health card at Lady Reading Hospital.
A complaint was made in a video made by a relative of a Gynecologist patient on the health card while purchasing medicines, in which the patient’s relative said that only Rs 130 worth of pills were given to the patient on the health card and the rest 30,000 worth of medicines had to be purchased by the relative of the patient himself.
After the video went viral on social media, Provincial Health Minister Qasim Ali Shah took notice, after which 11 trainee doctors, including 4 female associate professors of the Gynecology Department, have been suspended. Antamiya Hospital has issued a statement in this regard.
According to the statement, the MO doctors include Dr. Hina Javed, Dr. Kainatullah Khan, Dr. Khadija, Dr. Syeda Maimona Shah, Dr. Ruqia Jahangir, Dr. Nighat Parveen, Dr. Basirat, Dr. Kulsoom, Dr. Maryam Arif, Laili Asghar and Dr. Chand Kamil. .
4 Associate Professors Dr. Farnaz, Dr. Mehnaz Raees, Dr. Shahida Sultan and Dr. Laila Zeb have also been suspended.
On the other hand, doctors’ organizations have rejected the inquiry and said that doctors have been made scapegoats. The shortcomings of the hospital management have been completely ignored.
