Islamabad: Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Defense Minister Major General (Engineer) Talal bin Abdullah Al Otaibi met with Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir at GHQ.
According to ISPR, issues of mutual interest and measures to further enhance bilateral defense cooperation including defense production and military training were discussed during the meeting.
The Army Chief pledged continuous support to the Pakistan Army to increase the capabilities of the Royal Saudi Land Forces. The distinguished guest acknowledged the achievements and sacrifices of the Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism and its valuable services for regional peace and stability.
The Saudi Assistant Defense Minister also attended the 5th Pakistan-Saudi Defense Cooperation meeting at GHQ, jointly chaired by Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and the Saudi Minister.
The forum discussed global and regional security challenges and their impact on defense forces.
The forum noted that rapid advancement in modern technology necessitates defense industrial cooperation in key capabilities between the two brotherly nations.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthen efforts in defense cooperation with a focused approach to target specific capabilities in the land, air and maritime domains.
Concrete proposals were considered by the forum to meet concrete objectives within specified timelines as per ISPR.
