Karachi: Judicial Magistrate South has handed over former SHO Derakhshan Ali Raza and Head Editor Faisal Laghari to the police on 3-day physical remand.
In the Karachi City Court, the trial of the death of the accused in the custody of Darakhshan Police Station was heard by the Judicial Magistrate South. The arrested accused, former SHO Derakhshan Ali Raza and Head Editor Faisal Leghari, were produced in the court.
The investigating officer requested the physical remand of the accused and said that the CCTV footage should be taken from the accused.
The lawyer of the accused, Salahuddin Paiwar Advocate, stated that the victim did not die in custody, the accused was not subjected to torture in the police station. The victim was arrested by SIP Sanaullah.
The lawyer said that SP Clifton Nayar-ul-Haq took the accused to a private place where he was tortured, later the accused was brought to the police station and the SHO was accused. The victim was not tortured in the police station. SHO Derakhshan has been accused baselessly.
The court handed over the accused to the police on 3-day physical remand, the court asked the investigating officer for a progress report on the next hearing.
According to the police, the cases against the deceased Moeez were already under hearing in the court, the son of the deceased is also in jail, the case of the incident has been registered in the government’s complaint in Sahil police station.
