Peshawar: The Department of Social Welfare and Development of Women and Zakat and Ushar has blown up the austerity policy of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
The department sought permission to purchase vehicles for Chief Minister’s Adviser on Social Welfare Mashal Yousafzai and the Secretary for which a formal summary has been prepared.
According to the text of the summary, a Fortuner car worth 1 crore 71 lakh rupees should be bought for adviser Mishal Yousafzai, while the 7-year period of the official car of the secretary of the department has also been completed, so an official car worth 73 lakh should be bought for the secretary’s social welfare.

The summary also states that the vehicles of the Zakat and Social Welfare Department are outdated.
The Cabinet had decided on October 17, 2013 to purchase vehicles for ministers, advisors and aides. However, in view of the austerity policy, the finance department has banned the purchase of new vehicles.
In the summary, the chief minister has been requested to remove the ban on buying new vehicles and approve the purchase of 2 vehicles.
