The inquiry found no trace of the role of any organization behind the Faizabad sit-in, reports

Islamabad: The Faizabad sit-in inquiry commission prepared a report and sent it to the federal government.

According to the sources, General Rafiz Hameed got a clean chit and the inquiry did not find any trace of the role of any organization behind the Faizabad sit-in.

The commission stated that Faiz Hameed only followed the instructions given in the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. The same was confirmed by the minutes of the meeting of November 22, 2017. Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan accepted the responsibility of all the decisions to deal with the sit-in.

The report said that Shahbaz Sharif, Ahsan Iqbal, Zahid Hamid, Aftab Sultan were also asked about the role of the agencies. All relevant witnesses denied the role of any entity or personality. Therefore, it is not possible for the commission to link any agency or person with the sit-in.

According to the report, the Punjab government could have stopped the dharna at an early stage and the Punjab government’s decision to allow the TLP to march to Islamabad was inappropriate.

The commission report also mentioned the shortcomings of the Rawalpindi administration and suggested the implementation of the National Action Plan.

The Commission also suggested necessary amendments in the PEMRA Ordinance and laws related to social media, in its observations, saying that the executive should fulfill its own responsibilities.

It should be noted that in 2017 Faizabad sit-in commission was formed to investigate the sit-in of TLP.
