Lahore: It has been decided to conduct a special court-martial against the corrupt officers and personnel of the Punjab Police.
A special meeting was held in Murree under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in which a detailed review of the law and order situation in the entire province was conducted and IG Punjab gave a briefing on the overall law and order situation.
Maryam Aurangzeb, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, IG, AIG, Commissioner, CCPO, RPO and other officials attended.
In the meeting, a principled decision was taken to establish a special unit and IT training for the elimination of organized and cybercrime. It was also approved to implement a special audit system to identify corruption and unprofessional behavior in the police and to conduct a special court martial of police officers and officials who are involved with corrupt and criminals.
A complaint can be registered on the CM’s special dashboard for demanding bribes by the police. A proposal to establish border security forces to prevent smuggling was considered.
It was decided to establish a functional specialized police force for each crime while legislating for the death penalty in cases of rape of women and children.
Maryam Nawaz directed steps to eradicate the culture of illegal weapons in Punjab. He said that crime can be reduced by ensuring punishment. The persons involved in the cases of rape of children and women should be brought to justice. Police will be provided with modern weapon vehicles, night vision and drones.
