Karachi: The main suspect involved in the killing of Major Saad was killed in a police encounter for resisting during the incident in Shahr Quaid, while one of his accomplices has already been arrested.

Baghdadi police killed a street criminal and recovered weapons from his possession in an encounter near Phulpati Lane, Lyari on the night of Eid-ul-Fitr (moon night). DIG South Asad Raza says that the killed accused Major. Saad has been involved in Sheikh’s murder.

It should be noted that Usman, one of the accomplices of the slain accused, was arrested on Tuesday by the Site A police in an injured state after an alleged encounter.

On January 31, Major Saeed was shot and wounded by 4 bullets for resisting during the looting incident near Gulbai Bridge, who was martyred 8 days later while undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

The body of the accused who was killed in the police encounter was shifted to Jinnah Hospital. According to the spokesperson of DIG South Asad Raza, the accused who was killed by police retaliatory firing was identified as Altaf Bengali. The deceased accused was the main suspect in the murder of Major Saad Sheikh.

Earlier, the accused Usman, who was arrested in an injured state, had admitted that the accused Altaf Bengali, who was killed on the day of the incident, was with him. Weapons have been recovered from the dead accused. Apart from this, he also has a criminal record and was recently released on bail.

It should be remembered that on March 31, 2024, armed robbers shot 4 bullets in different parts of the body to Major Saad Sheikh, an officer of the Resistance Sensitive Organization, during a robbery incident near Site B Police Station, Gulbai, and fled the scene. Major Saad Sheikh was taken to a private hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of April 8.
