Peshawar: The court ordered Transparency International Pakistan to republish the 2023 annual report.
Transparency International Pakistan has been ordered to republish its 2023 annual report on the issue of publishing the judiciary as the third most corrupt institution in Pakistan.
The Chief Justice Peshawar High Court delivered a reserved judgment on February 19, in which the court ordered Transparency International Pakistan to republish the 2023 annual report.
According to the verdict, the court has directed Transparency International to publish a factual report by including non-existent data in the report and submit Transparency International to the Registrar Peshawar High Court by April 24.
The Peshawar High Court ordered that the total number of forms rejected during the survey should be published in the report. Transparency International should publish all public opinion ratios clearly in the report, leaving no ambiguity for the reader.
The judgment said that Transparency International should have taken the initiative to correct the report of the National Corruption Perception Survey 2023. The decision should not be interpreted as a restriction on freedom of expression. The Court encourages effective, investigative, accurate research that is useful to institutions and the public.
