Running style reflects personality, research

Aigle, Switzerland: A recent study by a team of scientists has found evidence that suggests that running styles vary from person to person.

According to media reports, human biomechanics experts at Volodalen SportLab conducted an experiment on 80 adult volunteers and found out how running style reflects personality.

The study, conducted by French researchers and published in the journal PLOS ONE, shows that people have different running styles, with some running smoothly while others have a slightly stiff or hesitant style. . Although such different styles seem to be mostly based on physical attributes, the French team found that such styles can also be related to personality.

The team of researchers had 80 adult volunteers run three times on a 50-meter track. And each time the volunteers ran at a different pace. The researchers also recorded video of the volunteers running.

On the other hand, each volunteer was also administered the MBTI test, which is specific for the patient’s personality classification. Using video recorded with the test, running styles were compared and found that volunteers with certain personality traits had similar running styles, while other volunteers whose personality aspects matched each other had similar running styles. The style was also similar but different from the previous group.
