Karachi: The system has stalled in the Town Municipal Corporation Manghopir, the sale and purchase of development contracts has been revealed.
According to Express News, the brutal disposal of development funds has started in the newly formed Town Municipal Corporation, Manghopir. Sources say that the system has camped in Manghopir town and plans have been made to embezzle the funds of the town in the first phase.
Sources say that tenders for 98 schemes of development works were invited by TMC Manghupir, but the contractors were not allowed to submit tenders on the scheduled date and the office of Executive Engineer Samiullah Brohi remained locked. However, the tenders for the said works have not been placed or opened yet, while on the other hand, the alleged buying and selling of the said 98 schemes has started and is still going on.
In this regard, Vice Chairman Sindh Naeem Kazmi and Chief Coordinator Sindh Saeed Mughal of Contractors Association of Pakistan (CAP) say that complaints have been received of fraudulent disposal of development schemes and looting of government funds in Manghopir Town, which are being reviewed. It has been confirmed that serious corruption has started in the new-born Town Municipal Corporation, Mangho Peer, which came into being after the recent local elections, and looting is being done on a large scale in the name of development works.
In this regard, he has taken immediate notice from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), anti-corruption, including the Provincial Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, the Secretary Local Government and Sepra and the said NIT bearing the number EE/B&R/TMC/MPIR/10/2024 immediately. It has been demanded to cancel it and call for NIT again and put it under the supervision of investigative agencies. CAP officials say that the development of Karachi is being played with due to which the city has been left in ruins.
In this regard, Executive Engineer B&R Sami Brohi was contacted to know his position, and he confirmed that the tenders called for could not be opened on the scheduled date. The town chairman and the town municipal commissioner are not giving any policy regarding the contracts, while on the other hand they are blaming the contractors and saying that matters are being fixed to award the contracts.
