Karachi: Due to the imposition of tax on juice by the government, the investment of 40 billion rupees is feared to be affected, in view of which the fruit exporters have written a letter to the Prime Minister.

The Pakistan Fruit Exporters Association has sent a letter to the Prime Minister in this regard, stating that the imposition of 10 percent federal excise duty on juices will burden farmers, fruit exporters and pulp concentrate manufacturers, which will result in local producers of juices. The industry’s investment of Rs 40 billion will be affected.

Fruit exporters have said that juice manufacturing companies buy 2 lakh tonnes of fruit, 10% excise duty will also affect farmers’ income, reduction in income from juices and promotion of undocumented business, 10% federal tax on juices. The decision to impose excise duty should be withdrawn.
