Lahore: During an operation, the Punjab Food Authority seized a vehicle full of sick chickens, the meat of which was to be sold in the market.

Meat safety teams destroyed 880 kg of sick chickens and stale and smelly meat during checking in Tolanton market and Sabzazar market and imposed fines of Rs 90 thousand on 9 shops.

According to the authorities, a truck full of underweight chickens suffering from paralysis, flu and stomach diseases were seized, in which the sick chickens were brought to the Tolanton market for meat preparation. In addition, substandard and expired meat was found to be kept for sale in the freezers at the meat shops, while the shops were found to have poor hygiene and insects in the shops.
