Islamabad: The police’s counter-extremism unit shut down 462 social media accounts.

According to the police, 462 accounts spreading religious, religious, linguistic hatred on social media were closed by the Anti-Extremism Unit of Islamabad Police. In this regard, a letter was written to FIA for closure identifying 522 accounts involved in adverse activities.

Among the blocked accounts, 65 were religious, 47 were involved in propaganda against the country and 350 were involved in spreading terrorist content. The remaining 1060 accounts will also be closed soon.

The police say that preventing extremism is helping to tackle terrorism and make the city more secure. People are requested to stay away from such negative activities on social media. Legal action will also be taken against the people involved in it.
