Islamabad: The High Court ordered the meeting of the lawyers in jail with the founder chairman PTI Imran Khan.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of Islamabad High Court heard the petition against former prime minister and founding chairman PTI Imran Khan against orders banning meetings in jail, in which Superintendent Adiala Jail Asad Waraich appeared before the court and said that Hundreds of requests for appointments are coming in.
Lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat said in the court that it has been decided in the court of Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan. Superintendent Adiala Jail said that the order was made that 6 persons besides lawyers will be allowed to visit. I have 7 thousand prisoners. The court allowed 6 people to meet on a daily basis, which is not possible for us.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir while talking to Superintendent Adiala Jail said that every day you come to us with a new objection. If they will not follow the court order, why not take contempt of court action against the superintendent of Adiala Jail?
Superintendent Adiala Jail told the court that I also follow the order of the court, it is also the notification of the Punjab Home Department, on which the court said that we had decided to meet them on your terms. will Contempt of Court applications are already pending against you.
After the break, the hearing of the case resumed, then the lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat told the court that we have fixed the mechanism with the Superintendent Adiala Jail, on which the court directed that you appoint the focal person. We are keeping this petition pending, you should make SOPs, on which Sher Afzal Marwat told the court that we 4 people will go for a meeting today and again on Tuesday.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir while addressing the jail superintendent said that we are not asking you to allow everyone to meet PTI founder in the jail. Only the 6 lawyers named by founder PTI will meet you. The Jail Superintendent said that this problem is coming because every man in the world is saying that he is a lawyer and has to meet. 20 lawyers come to the hearing and say to go in.
The Jail Superintendent said that it is the direction of the Home Department to ban the meeting of all the prisoners, including the PTI, on which the court said that they cannot direct you, it is your discretion.
Later, the court ordered 4 lawyers to meet PTI founder in jail today. On this occasion, the public prosecutor pleaded that the court should allow the lawyers to discuss only the cases in the meeting with the PTI founder. The lawyers who were also elected members of the assembly should not discuss political issues in the meeting, on which the court said that you should not go so deep and arrange a meeting of 4 lawyers today.
