Peshawar;  Detection of polio virus in drainage water samples of 3 areas

Peshawar: Polio virus has been identified in samples taken from the provincial capital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Express News, polio virus has been identified in the environmental samples of the drainage water of three areas of Peshawar. In Peshawar district, the environmental samples of Nare Khor, Shaheen Muslim Town and Tajabad areas have been found to be contaminated with polio virus.

Polio virus has been confirmed in 20 environmental samples sent to the National Institute of Health Islamabad. During the last one year, the presence of polio virus has been confirmed in Peshawar’s sewers several times.
