Lahore: The Pakistani youth who crossed the border by mistake returned home after spending several years in an Indian jail, 31-year-old Shamoon was handed over to Pakistan Rangers Punjab by BSF India on Tuesday at the Wagah border.

According to the details obtained by Express News, Shimoon crossed the Indian border by mistake, on which he was arrested by the Indian Border Security Force.

Shimoon says that he was arrested by BSF fraudulently, he wanted to go to worship at a temple inside the Indian border for which he took permission from BSF officials before crossing the border. Then went to the temple but was arrested by the BSF men.

Shamoon belongs to Tharparkar region of Sindh, Shamoon is married and father of three children. His wife, two daughters and daughter had been watching him for 6 years.

Thanks to the efforts of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi, Shimoon was released and he has returned to his homeland.

The Pakistani High Commission met Shamoon in Jaipur Jail in India under consular access in 2019, after which steps were taken to confirm his citizenship and then release him, and finally he has returned home.

No details have been revealed about the year in which the Pakistani youth mistakenly crossed the border to India and was arrested.
