Karachi: A fire broke out in the old passport office behind the President’s passport office, burning all the old records kept in the record room, but there was no loss of life.

According to the details, 5 fire brigade vehicles and a snorkel reached the spot on the report of fire in the Old Passport Office behind the President Passport Office, while 15 police, 1122 and Chippa rescue teams also reached the spot. Fire brigade crews brought the fire under control after an hour of struggle, with the cooling process continuing for another hour.

The in-charge of Sadar Fire Station while talking to the media said that the building where the fire broke out was the record room of the passport office where the old passport records were kept. The old car was also burnt, the tin roof of the dilapidated building collapsed due to the fire, the cause of the fire was not immediately known, no casualties were reported as a result of the fire.

Helper 15 A police officer said that there was no watchman in the building where the record room of the passport office is, but heroin addicts had made their base in this building.

He said that about two weeks ago, he received information that some people had entered the said building. When the police reached there, some Hironchis were collecting paper in sacks and putting them in a rickshaw. He was taken into custody and handed over to Predi police station.

The police officer said that it is suspected that drug addicts were taking drugs here last night and a fire broke out after burning matches.

Similarly, a fire broke out in a house in Korangi Fish Mor Sector 51D.

According to the spokesman of the fire brigade, furniture and other household goods were burnt to ashes due to the fire, but fortunately there was no loss of life, the cause of the fire is said to be short circuit.
