Islamabad: Chairman Sunni Ittehad Council Sahibzada Hamid Raza challenged the move of not getting specific seats in Punjab in Lahore High Court.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza filed the petition through the mediation of Advocate Ishtiaq A Khan, in which the Election Commission and others have been made parties. In the petition filed in the Lahore High Court, it has been argued that the Election Commission is neither a tribunal nor a court. According to the proportion of seats in the Assembly, the Sunni Ittehad Council should get specific seats. It doesn’t matter whether the Sunni Unity Council contested the election or not.
In the application of the Sunni Ittehad Council, it has been further stated that the action of the Election Commission is equivalent to amending the Constitution. The Election Commission’s decision exceeded its authority. Court declared Section 104, Rule 94 of the Election Act unconstitutional.
Earlier, PTI’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar while talking to the media in Islamabad High Court said that he will challenge the issue of specific seats in Punjab in Lahore High Court. A draft has been prepared in this regard, our team will challenge the specific seats of the Punjab Assembly in the Lahore High Court today.
He said that the issue of Form 45 will be challenged in the Supreme Court. The issue of specific seats was in the Peshawar High Court, the decision of which will apply to the Federation and the Assembly in KP. Barrister Ali Zafar said that intra-party elections have been held keeping in mind the orders of the Supreme Court, which has been challenged, now let’s see what the Election Commission decides.
He said that who will be in the cabinet, it is decided by the chief minister and his close people. Sher Afzal Marwat is going to be a member of the Public Accounts Committee. He has been nominated by founder chairman PTI Imran Khan.
