Karachi: A 12-member delegation of Saudi Arabia reached Karachi Airport in connection with the launch of the Road to Makkah project.
Federal Secretary Religious Affairs and Director Hajj Karachi welcomed the Saudi delegation at Karachi Airport. Saudi authorities will review the inclusion of Karachi Airport in the Road to Makkah project. During the Hajj, the Pakistani pilgrims will also be inspected at the immigration facilities at the Karachi Airport.
Saudi officials will conduct a joint survey of Karachi Airport with officials from other departments including the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Immigration, Civil Aviation, ASF and Customs today.
According to the sources, on the report of the Saudi authorities, Karachi Airport will be included in the Road to Makkah project this year. Under the Road to Makkah project, the immigration of pilgrims during Hajj will be done at Karachi Airport instead of Jeddah Airport. Currently, only Islamabad Airport is included in the Road to Makkah project.
There is a plan to include Karachi and Lahore airports in the Road to Makkah project.
