In Patelpara, there is only 11.5 hours of electricity in 24 hours, the petitioner said
Karachi: Unannounced load shedding, citizens forced to complain before court, Sindh High Court orders K Electric to submit report on application.
A hearing was held on the application related to unannounced loadshedding before a two-member bench headed by Justice Salahuddin Paiwar.
The petitioner said that in Patelpara, there is only 11 and a half hours of electricity in 24 hours. 79% of people pay electricity bill. What is the fault of those who pay the bill? Declared load shedding is being replaced by unannounced load shedding.
K Electric justified the load shedding. K Electric’s lawyer stated that load shedding is happening under government policy.
Justice Salahuddin Paiwar asked the lawyer of K Electric that what is the fault of those who pay the bill.
The counsel stated that load shedding is done in high losses area to avoid high losses. There is also a decision of Peshawar High Court regarding load shedding.
Justice Salahuddin Paiwar remarked that a common citizen is standing in front of you, affected by load shedding, how will you solve the problem of this citizen.
K Electric’s lawyer gave a stand and said that action is being taken wherever electricity is stolen. We have also conducted various cases of electricity theft. People take out the power cord and put it back on.
K Electric sought respite from the court to end unannounced load shedding in Patelpara. The court ordered K Electric to submit a report at the next hearing.
