A common man may not be aware of the excellent properties of ginger, but experts are convinced of its importance. Ginger is used in most meat and poultry dishes and makes them easier to digest. Ginger is less used in cooking go fish, but its pungent aroma makes the food appetizing. Ginger is also used in salads. Ginger chutneys, pickles and halwa or marmalade are part of the Indian table, while ginger tea is very common.

In other countries of the world, ginger pies, cakes and biscuits are eaten with great enthusiasm. Ginger is not only used in food but the drinks made from it are also part of the banquet as the function of this drink is to digest the varied food on the table.
