Order to pay compensation to the family of a citizen who has been missing for seven years

Karachi: Sindh High Court, six missing persons including two close brothers from different areas of Karachi Ordered the defense secretary to obtain and submit fresh reports from across the country on the requests related to the recovery of and the police to continue action as per the recommendations of the JITs and the task force.

According to Express News, before a two-member bench headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto, a hearing was held on the applications related to the recovery of 6 missing persons, including 2 close brothers, from different areas of Karachi.

Family members and lawyers of siblings Mahmood Al Hassan and Saud Al Hassan did not appear during the hearing. The court also expressed dissatisfaction over the police reports. The court remarked that the families of the missing persons have been disappointed on the sighting reports of the police. Therefore, the families of the missing persons did not appear to pursue the case.

The investigating officer said that 18 JITs and 9 task force meetings have been held to trace Majid. According to the travel history, Majid, the missing citizen, did not travel outside the country. The court directed to pay compensation to the family of Majid, who has been missing for 7 years.

Justice Nimatullah Phalphutu remarked that the Interior Department should speed up the procedure of compensating the citizen’s family as per the rules. The federal government submitted the report to the court. The report said that Majid is not in the custody of any detention center or institution.

The court ordered the defense secretary to obtain fresh reports from the country and submit them. The court ordered to speed up efforts to recover the missing persons. The court ordered the police to continue the action as per the recommendations of the JITs and the task force. The court also ordered the federal and provincial governments to submit reports within 4 weeks.
