Karachi: After the general elections, the Chief Ministers will be elected in Punjab and Sindh today.

In Punjab, Muslim League (N) candidate Maryam Nawaz and Sunni Ittehad Council’s Rana Aftab Ahmed will compete. In Sindh, there will be a contest between the candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party Murad Ali Shah and the candidate of MQM-Pakistan Ali Sohariya. Ali Sohriya has been elected member of Sindh Assembly for the second time. He has also been the parliamentary leader of MQM in Sindh Assembly.

PML-N has nominated Maryam Nawaz and Tehreek-e-Insaf Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan as the candidate for the Chief Minister of Punjab. Last day, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan of Muslim League (N) was elected Speaker of Punjab Assembly and Malik Zaheer Iqbal Chanar was elected as Deputy Speaker by an overwhelming majority. . Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan of Muslim League (N) secured 224 votes while his opponent was Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar of Sunni Ittehad Council who secured 96 votes.
