Lahore: The police detained 5 suspicious persons from outside the Punjab Assembly, who were trying to enter the assembly where the voting process for the election of the Speaker was going on.
Lahore Police said that the suspicious persons tried to enter the Punjab Assembly and they pretended to be officers of the sensitive institution.
The police said that all the five persons have been transferred to Civil Line Police Station and legal action will be taken against all the detained accused.
It should be noted that the newly elected members of the Punjab Assembly took oath yesterday and the speaker was elected today, as a result of which Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan of Pakistan Muslim League (N) was elected as the new speaker.
PML-N’s senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz has been nominated as the chief minister by the party and has a majority in the House, while independent candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have joined the Sunni Etihad Council. Whose candidate is Mian Aslam Iqbal.
