Lahore: Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly will be elected today.
The Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected today through a secret poll in the Provincial Assembly. There will be a one-to-one contest between Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan of PML-N and Malik Ahmad Khan Bachhar of Sunni Ittehad Council for the Speakership.
The contest for Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly will be between Muslim League-N’s Malik Zaheer Iqbal Chanar and Sunni Ittehad Council’s Moin Riaz. It should be noted that the number of candidates of Muslim League-N is heavy. Earlier, 321 out of 371 members of Punjab Assembly took oath yesterday.
In the provincial assembly, Pakistan Muslim League-N is leading with 193 members while Sunni Ittehad Council is the second largest party in the house with 98 members. Apart from this, there are 13 members of Pakistan People’s Party and 10 members of Muslim League-Q. 5 members of the Stability Pakistan Party, Tehreek Labeek and one each of Muslim League Zia-ul-Haq are members of the Punjab Assembly.
For Speaker and Deputy Speaker, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan and Zaheer Iqbal Chanar have a clear advantage in the House, which is because the Muslim League-N also has the support of Pakistan Peoples Party, QL and IPP members. Is. Muslim League-N and its allies have taken an unbeaten lead with a total of 223 members.
The meeting of the Punjab Assembly for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will begin at 4 pm, which will be presided over by Speaker Punjab Assembly Muhammad Sabatin Khan.
