Karachi: Additional District and Sessions Judge Sharqi in Shahr Quaid sentenced the accused to 10 years imprisonment in the case of raping a girl in a shelter home (orphanage).
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sharqi in Karachi pronounced the verdict in the case of rape of a girl in a shelter home.
The prosecution was able to prove the crime during the hearing, after being found guilty, the court sentenced the accused Mehdi Hasan to ten years of imprisonment and also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees.
In the judgment, the court said that for non-payment of the fine, another 6 months of imprisonment will have to be served. The judge acquitted co-accused Ezra due to lack of evidence. According to the prosecution, during the trial, 11 witnesses against the accused were presented in the court and their statements were recorded.
During the trial, the accused refused to accept their guilt. The victim was staying at the shelter home where the incident took place. The accused raped the victim with a blocker on the pretext of installing frames in the room.
The victim was also threatened by the accused. A case of the incident was registered in May 2021 at the Jamshed Quarter police station.
