SSP Jameel Zafar also apologized to the court
Islamabad: SSP Jameel Zafar apologized to Islamabad High Court in the case of issuing MPO to PTI leader Shehryar Afridi.
A case of abuse of authority and contempt of court was heard against DC Islamabad and SSP Operations for issuing MPO against Shehryar Afridi in the High Court.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, SSP Operations Malik Jameel Zafar, SP Farooq Buttar appeared before the court.
Justice Babar Sattar told DC Islamabad that you issued orders to 69 MPOs, didn’t they have parents or did they not perform Umrah, it was a very stupid action of yours and you will suffer the consequences.
DC Islamabad’s lawyer Raja Rizwan Abbasi argued that according to reports Shahryar Afridi was planning a protest while in jail, MPO orders were issued on the report of District Intelligence Committee, ISI, I Representatives of B, MI, Triple One Brigade and Police were involved.
Justice Babar Sattar remarked that despite judicial observation, more MPO orders were issued on the same source report, we suspended their powers, then they stopped issuing MPO orders, only this bench. Not only but other Benches also quashed about forty MPO orders.
SSP Jameel Zafar sought an unconditional apology from the court. DC Islamabad also requested unconditional pardon for not appearing in the court on the previous hearing.
The court ordered to submit a reply to the other proofs by Monday, rejecting DC Islamabad’s plea for unconditional pardon and barred him from going abroad. The High Court will pronounce the judgment of the case next week.
