Taxi driver's murder, Lahore High Court acquitted the accused of death sentence

The Lahore High Court has acquitted the accused in the case of the murder of a taxi driver.

Justices Malik Shehzad Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Amjad Rafiq issued a written judgment on the appeal in which the court acquitted Alfat Rasool, giving the benefit of doubt.

The written judgment stated that the prosecution failed to prove its case, the case was filed late and no accused was named while the accused was named later.

According to the plaintiff, the wife of the accused Alfat had a relationship with the deceased Shafiq due to which the accused Alfat killed his brother Shafiq.

In the decision, it is written that why the wife of the accused Alfat will not be included as an accused in the case, the photos of the deceased Shafiq found on the mobile phone of the accused’s wife were not forensically examined, while contradictions were also found in the statements of the witnesses.

Accused Ulfat was named in the case registered in Pakpattan police station in July 2018, the trial court awarded death sentence to accused Ulfat in 2019.
