Peshawar: It is likely to start raining and snowing in Pakhtunkhwa, while there is also a risk of landslides.
The meteorological department has predicted that rains, strong winds and snowfall in upper districts are likely to start in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tomorrow. Clouds are beginning to hover in the provincial capital.
PDMA has issued a new notification to all district administrations to stay alert. According to DG PDMA Muhammad Qaiser Khan, the district administration has been instructed to take advance measures in view of rains and snowfall.
The post said that there are fears of landslides due to snowfall and rains, in view of which the district administration has been directed to ensure availability of small heavy machinery. Apart from this, instructions have also been issued to the tourists and local population in the sensitive upper areas to be aware of the weather conditions and take precautionary measures.
In its letter, PDMA has said that in any emergency situation, all concerned agencies should be vigilant in maintaining road links and provide alternative routes for traffic in case of road closure. Passengers should be warned in advance on provincial and national highways in sensitive areas.
It should be noted that the rains and snowfall in the province are likely to continue intermittently till February 20.
