Islamabad: The wife of a civil judge has been indicted in the case of violence against a young maid

Islamabad: The District and Sessions Courts Islamabad indicted Soumia Asim, the wife of civil judge Asim Hafeez, in the case of torture on a young maid, and called for evidence at the next hearing, while the accused refused to plead guilty to the crime.

Civil Judge Umar Shabbir heard the case of Rizwana domestic worker torture and during this the accused Soumia Asim appeared in the court along with the lawyers where the indictment was read after which the accused denied the crime.

Soumia Asim is accused of torturing the young maid Rizwana and the court formally started the trial against Soumia Asim to indict her.

The court summoned the witnesses to record their statements on the next hearing and adjourned the case till March 20.

It should be noted that Rizwana, the victim in the torture case, said in her recorded statement to the police that the judge’s wife used to torture me daily and beat me with sticks. Rizwana, a young girl, told the police that the judge’s wife used to kick and slap me in anger and locked her in the room for many days and kept her hungry.

In the statement given to the police, it was further stated that I was not allowed to meet my parents while the judge’s wife was with me while talking on the telephone. My wounds were not even bandaged.

A case was registered against the civil judge’s wife in July last year for torturing a young maid, Rizwana.
