Karachi: The Sindh High Court ordered the Sindh government to release funds for action against dogs and to restore the allocated helpline 1093 on a petition related to controlling the number of stray dogs and non-supply of vaccines.
Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi headed the hearing of the application related to the control of stray dogs and non-supply of vaccines, in which the lawyer of KMC stated that the court orders have been implemented, and A report has been submitted in this regard. On this occasion, the Project Director of Anti-Rabies Program appeared in the court.
The court inquired what steps were to be taken, what steps had been taken, to which the project director said that anti-rabies vaccination was to be administered to stray dogs across the province. Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi remarked that what steps are being taken to catch the dogs? 50 dogs will be seen in our high court even now? We do not see anyone catching dogs on the road here.
The project director said that the legislation has been made, 3 centers have also been established. Work is going on for sterilization and vaccination of dogs in South, East and Malir.
The Chief Justice remarked that someone came to catch dogs in the High Court. Can we see any action against dogs? , on which the project director said that South, Central and Gulshan have left for action in Mimar areas. Teams are out, we are short of funds.
The Chief Justice inquired from the Public Advocate that why they do not release the funds? The court ordered to restore the helpline 1093 dedicated for action against dogs and to release funds to Sindh government for action against dogs. The court has also ordered to continue the action against stray dogs.
